Magneto-inertial fusion reactor cores combine magnetic and inertial confinement fusion in a compact low-cost package.
Fusion reactors join two hydrogen nuclei under immense pressure and temperature to create a larger helium nucleus and in the process release prodigious amounts of energy. Most common designs use so-called "heavy water" containing the one-and two neutron isotopes of hydrogen (deuterium and tritium) as fuel, which are inexpensive and prevalent in seawater. Fusion reactors produce very little radioactive waste.
This particular reactor design derives electrical energy directly from the motion of charged plasma within the reactor, and does not require an intermediary working fluid such as steam.
Fusion reactor core model ONLY. Other items in photos shown for size comparison - Not included.
Scale model is for display and operating model railroad load / modelling and is not a child's toy.
For use by railroad modelers age 14 minimum.
Imagine your layout with this reactor core on a heavy duty flatcar headed for your power plant model or large industrial facility.
